An Odd Couple

Blindfold me
Tell me what I need to hear
Whisper the truth about us
Tell me about our strange connection
How we are always far away from each other
Especially when we are near
Show me how a real couple really is
How they carry on with their lives
Waking up everyday
Having breakfast
And going to work to get paid
How they take children to school
And how happy they feel
When they get flowers
Explain it to me
Why can't we be like that
Because I wish I would get used to things
that are beautiful and real
It's not that I don't like what we got
I love you above all
and that's fine to me
But I guess it all would be much easier
if we could just have barbecues on Sundays
